Report 075 Jetskifishing includes the girls too... 15th of January 2012

We have been experiencing a mixed bag of weather in New Zealand over the last few months and makes good sense to have a PWC rigged for fishing with the small weather windows! Sunday, supposedly my sleep in day, the weather was looking great for an early morning fish before the wind got up! This was to be one of our ever popular social rides, in fact some of the guys joked it was more like a couples retreat, as a few of us decided to take our girlfriends out for an early morning fish.
The sunrise always makes up for the early wake up and once we located the fish with the Raymarine sounder, it took a couple of minutes of preparation to get Kristy started for fishing. Kristy is new to the fun fishing buzz and she has always left me to be the family hunter gatherer. I made things a little easier for her and rigged her up with the new Jitterbug Inchiku jig, selecting the 80 gram weight to eliminate any inconvienent snagging in the fishing territory. Before I could deploy my fishing gear, Kristy was already onto a Snapper from twenty metres of water.
We carried on fishing, releasing more than we were keeping and before long some of the other jetskifishos had arrived after their later departure from Bucklands Beach boat ramp.
After settling into a spot, Julie was soon on to her first Snapper of the day, while Peter being her personal decky.
Next it was Dave onto the fish after spotting some sign on his sounder and adding a Snapper to his chilly bin.
We were all in to it, Steve was having a great session all fitted out in his new Sharkskin thermal clothing! It helps to be warm out there, keeps your mind on task and in his case made for a comfortable and productive morning session.
Kristy took to this fishing method like a natural, with us calling it quits with half a dozen fish to take home to feed the family. Remember to fish for the future, there are plenty out there for when you feel like a meal and consider the children of today enjoying the fishing as we do in their future…
Here was a swift wake up at the ramp, the fisheries officers doing their job and were pleased to see how us Jetskifishos are fishing, just the way they like.
You have to love this Jetskifishing, home and changed to go out for breakfast at the local café by 9am, with the whole day ahead of us. For more information on how to enjoy this sport to the full potential and be involved with some of my fun upcoming events, give me a call, or if local come for a visit at the one and only Jetskifishing Store, Auckland, New Zealand.
Cheers, Andrew Hill
